Why I Love RDP & VNC

ZeroTier + VNC/RDP changed how I think about machines.

Instead of needing a powerful laptop, I just need a window into my home system.

ZeroTier: Hole-Punching Heaven

  • No open ports
  • Private overlay
  • Auto-connected mesh
  • Works anywhere (hotel wifi, LTE tether, etc.)

I don’t expose any public IPs. I remote in through a full VPN mesh that I control.

Throwaway Client, Permanent Server

My $50 throwaway laptop:

  • Stores zero data
  • Boots fast, runs light
  • Becomes a terminal into a high-powered desktop in my garage

If it dies, no problem — just grab another and go.
